The Queen Aretha Franklin took the stage of Radio City Hall tonight to deliver the soul she is so known for. However, tonight had a slightly more important urgency to her performance. She was giving her all for her honorary niece, Whitney Houston. Whitney’s funeral is tomorrow and Aretha will be singing at the church service. With Clive Davis and L.A. Reid in the audience, Whitney Houston’s presence was felt and her life was celebrated in songs all night. There was a stirring moment in particular when Aretha performed, “I Will Always Love You” in honor of Houston.
