Sound City is the name of the new music documentary inspired by Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. The film premiered recently at the Sundance film festival, and weaves a story around a recording console inside Sound City studios in California – the studio that gave birth to some of the best sounding records ever made – all they were all analog – no digital. Nirvana, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, Grateful Dead, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, and so many more recorded legendary albums and the documentary seeks to tell the story of the heart and soul of that recording studio.
Dave Grohl invited fellow Sound City recording artists to play the soundtrack of the documentary. John Fogerty, Jessy Green, Chris Goss, Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders, Stevie Nicks, Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rick Springfield, Lee Ving of the punk band Fear, Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine, and many more rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom for an amazing night of music in support of the new stellar documentary Sound City – WATCH IT!!!!
